Hospice Waikato provides specialist palliative and supportive care for people living with life limiting conditions, and their whaanau. Care is delivered to adult and paediatric populations across a variety of settings including home, aged residential care facilities and in our specialist palliative care unit. . Our medical team provides support to primary and secondary care providers throughout the Waikato district.

We are looking for a Senior Medical Officer keen to work across settings and join our great Medical Team.

As our SMO, you would be providing specialist palliative care to people in our Inpatient and Community Services. You will provide supervision to a team of RMO’s, support our rural service and join a flexible medical team who are happy to work across all our services. We have a holistic approach at Hospice Waikato, and you will be working alongside nursing care, counselling, social work, OT, massage therapy, music therapy, spiritual care and much more to support whanau.

What you will need to bring to the role:
  • Registration with the NZ Medical Council and a current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Experience in palliative care
  • Computer literacy and experience in telemedicine.
  • A collaborative and compassionate working style
  • Interest in coaching and mentoring staff and your own professional development
  • Completion of RACP Supervisor Professional Development Programme
