The greatest gift you can give is your time

The greatest gift you can give is your time3 Jul 2018

Ka Choon Lee (KC) began volunteering at Hospice Waikato in 2015. Due to the nature of his employment, KC spends a lot of time travelling between China and New Zealand, and views his time volunteering in Hamilton as a retreat.

KC volunteers by tending to our beautiful gardens and enjoys the flexibility around when, and how often, he can donate his time between commitments. “I volunteer because I am grateful for having a healthy body that can play a small role in helping others,” says KC.

Typically, his duties include watering plants, pruning the gardens, weeding and generally any jobs that contribute towards keeping the gardens looking fresh and tidy. “My hope is that if I can keep the area clean, tidy & colourful, it will in a small way contribute towards Hospice Waikato’s efforts in comforting patients and their families.”

Volunteers are essential to the work of Hospice Waikato, and provide valued support to the care and services Hospice Waikato delivers to people in the community.

We are always on the look-out for volunteers, and with the variety of opportunities, there really is something to suit everyone.

Whether you can spare a couple of hours a week, or every fortnight, Hospice Waikato can work around your schedule.
