Family Support Volunteers

Family Support Volunteers

Family Support volunteers provide companionship or family relief to patients and their families.
You compliment the greater Hospice team in helping our patients and family maintain their quality of life.

• The role can be varied but generally you will be providing:
• Companionship
• A listening ear
• Relief for the care-giver (time out)

Our Family support volunteers are dependable, accountable, caring and supportive in the work that they undertake. Family Support Volunteers do not carry out nursing care duties, personal cares or housework. Times are agreed between the patient/family and volunteer, however you would normally visit once or twice a week for a couple of hours.

Volunteers must attend a two day orientation to gain the knowledge you will need to work with terminally ill patients. Our Manager of Volunteer Services, Karen Mansfield, is happy to talk with you if you are interested in finding out more about how you can help.

Please call Karen on 07 859 1260 or email [email protected].
