Retail Volunteers

Retail Volunteers

Hospice Waikato has nine shops throughout the Waikato. These shops are a valuable source of income for our services. Our shops are staffed by a paid manager and a wonderful network of dedicated, friendly volunteers. So if you have a passion for retail, and enjoy assisting people, then volunteering in one of our shops could be for you.

The following roles are required within our Hospice Shops

Linen Sorters
You will be sorting linen into types and styles to ensure it is suitable to for resell. You will then price and fold ready for the shop. You will be required to stand in this role.

Fashion Sorters
You will be sorting fashion into types and styles for handing and storing in appropriate categories. You will be required to stand in this role and it is a fast paced role. If you know your fashion labels this is a great role for you.

Home and Donations
This is an extremely important role as you are on the front line helping customers with their donations, moving appropriate furniture into the shop and assisting with pricing of second hand goods. An ideal role if you understand the second hand market and give outstanding customer service. Some heavy lifting involved.

Linen Merchandisers
You will be filling the Hospice Shops with appropriate linen. Taking careful consideration to display in the correct manner to enhance sales. This role involves a fair amount of walking and reaching to replenish the shop floor. From time to time you will also assist customers with specific requests.

Fashion Merchandisers
You will be filling the Hospice Waikato Shops with appropriate fashion. If you have a keen interest in fashion this is the role for you. You will love presenting fashion by helping with displays and ensuring each piece is looking its best.

Bric-a-Brac Merchandisers
You will be filling the shops with Bric-a-Brac. It would help if you know the antiques / second hand market but this is not essential. In this role you will be required to set up displays and infill, plus ensure the merchandise is clean and well presented.

Customer Service
This role is all about the customer. Helping them with their purchases, enquiries or at the counter with point of sale. You could be the person that helps them select furniture, give them a basket to shop with, price a bundle of fashion or helping them take their goods to their car. You can fit into any team and help out where needed.

Nothing that looks like you?
We also require people that can give their time doing one of the following:

• Steaming
• Washing bric-a brac
• Cleaning furniture
• Cleaning fixtures
• Sorting / cleaning counters
• Sorting Donations
• Answering phones
• Mending clothing
